About Portable Cabins

A portable cabin, is generally a small, simple, one room building designed and built to be movable, rather than permanently positioned. Portable cabins have a number of uses. They may be used for long-standing, short-term, or permanent facilities, and are very reasonably priced because of the factory construction of these buildings. Cabins are considered to be a small rough house or shelter, with basic living utilities, often constructed from logs. The most familiar modern type of portable cabins are designed to be impermanent, and are carried to or from site on a trailer, and can be manoeuvred into position. They are often sited in backyards, and utilised as extra, inexpensive accommodation.

About Invercargill and Southland District

Rugged, natural, unspoilt, pristine green, contrasting landscapes-all describe Southland. It is a fertile place of green farmland and forest, laced with sparkling clean waters and friendly small towns.

At the very bottom of Southland is Bluff, a small fishing town and port, which serves as a link to Stewart Island. The fishing fleet is largely centred on the famous deep sea bluff oysters, and good seafood in general.

Invercargill is the largest town of the Southland district, and is one of the southernmost cities in the world. As such it generally has a cooler climate. The city population is fairly static and has introduced zero fees at its Southern Institute of Technology, in an effort to attract students. The dairy boom of the last decade has also helped rejuvenate the city. Invercargill's sporting heritage is reflected in its excellent sporting facilities, which include an indoor cycling velodrome, Olympic sized swimming pool and leisure centre, rugby stadium and international arenas for cricket and hockey.

Another well known town in Southland is Gore, the world's brown trout capital, attracting anglers from October to April. Sporting facilities also feature here, with an Olympic sized ice-skating rink and swimming pool. Mountain biking through spectacular bush is also an attraction.
